The police have officially responded regarding the powerful explosion that shook Lezhë just before midnight tonight. According to initial reports, a gas cylinder exploded at a business. As a result of the explosion, significant material damage was caused to three parked vehicles and eight neighboring businesses near the site.
"Around 23:00 on April 5, 2026, in the city of Lezhë, inside a business (a byrek shop) owned by citizen K. M., it is suspected that a gas cylinder exploded. As a consequence, material damage was caused to the premises, the windows of parked vehicles nearby were damaged, and external damage to adjacent businesses was confirmed," stated the police announcement.
The investigative team, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is at the scene and is intensively continuing efforts to fully clarify the circumstances and cause of the explosion, as well as to complete the legal documentation of the case.
