A powerful explosion at a thermal power plant in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh has caused at least 10 fatalities and around 40 injuries, according to local authorities. The incident occurred at a plant owned by Vedanta Limited, a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources. The state's Industry Minister, Lakhan Lal Dewangan, confirmed that the explosion was severe and that the situation remains critical for some of the injured.

According to him, at least 24 people are in serious condition, while emergency teams continue their work to treat the injured and stabilize the area. On the other hand, the state's Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, announced the launch of an "impartial investigation" to uncover the causes of the explosion and identify those responsible.

There was also a reaction from India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who expressed condolences to the victims' families through a post on the social network X, emphasizing the pain over the loss of human lives. Authorities are continuing the investigations, while the event has raised serious concerns about safety standards in the country's energy industry.
