Italian media report a surreal story, whose protagonist is a 17-year-old from Carini, a town west of Palermo. The teenager showed up at the emergency room in Palermo with a headache that had persisted for days. An initial examination in the ENT department of Villa Sofia Hospital revealed nothing, but a CT scan at a private clinic uncovered the presence of a bullet inside his skull.
According to the Carabinieri, the 17-year-old may have been involved in a confrontation or violent altercation with currently unidentified individuals in his hometown on April 11. During the fight, a wound opened just behind his ear.
The 17-year-old simply went to the emergency medical service in Carini, where the wound was closed with stitches, without any idea of how it had been inflicted. In the following days, due to the bullet lodged in his skull, the teenager suffered from severe headaches and ear pain. After the bullet was identified, doctors immediately notified law enforcement, while the 17-year-old was entrusted to the Neurosurgery department, where the team removed a 9mm caliber bullet.
