During the session at the Tirana Administrative Court, the lawyer of the Mayor of Tirana, Plarent Ndreca, made statements to the media regarding the arrest of Erion Veliaj.

Ndreca stated that the prosecutor who ordered the arrest does not meet the legal criteria to perform the duty: "As you saw, it was clear that the prosecutor who arrested and detained the head of the municipality does not meet the criteria. The lawsuit aims to empower the court to assess whether we have a legitimate prosecutor or a citizen who has unlawfully taken on the attributes of a prosecutor."

The lawyer added that the issue goes beyond the individual, emphasizing the importance of the rule of law: "This is an important precedent that could affect any citizen who might improperly assume the attributes of a prosecutor. We have no claims against Mr. Dumani's firm; he is a prosecutor, but we are focused on the investigative process."

As you witnessed, you saw a fact that became clear: whether the prosecutor who arrested and detained the head of the Tirana municipality meets the criteria or not, and it turned out that the criteria were not met.

The lawsuit aims to empower the court to assess whether we have a prosecutor or an ordinary citizen who has unlawfully taken on the attributes of a prosecutor.

This is an issue related to the rule of law and goes beyond the individual. It sets a precedent that any citizen could become a prosecutor.

We have no claim against Mr. Dumani's firm. Mr. Dumani is a prosecutor. We are here for the investigative process.

If there is no prosecutor of the Republic of Albania who has not committed a criminal act, there will be no plenary session.
