Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has reacted following statements made by PD leader Sali Berisha regarding former Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj. Berisha, commenting on the fire incident near a building in the QSUT area, stated that the construction permit was not issued by Xhafaj, but by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Mayor Erion Veliaj. After these statements, Salianji responded on social media, emphasizing that Berisha's stance shows, in his view, the true political connection Berisha has with former minister Xhafaj and how responsibilities regarding the issue are being handled. REACTION The defense that Sali Berisha provided today for Fatmir Xhafaj brought to light what many have long suspected: their ties are real and deep. The main responsible parties for corruption and substandard buildings are Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj. But downplaying Xhafaj's role is not merely deflection and smoke-screening; it is intentional protection. The facts are there: – Xhafaj's firm as Interior Minister for project approvals at the Lilo buildings, at the former municipal police – the Lilo buildings in half of Tirana – and above all: Xhafaj's son-in-law who issued construction permits as a director in the municipality! Today, despite illegally benefiting from the "Lubia" license for an energy park, the PD remains silent, just as it remains silent about the failure to conduct a wealth investigation against Xhafaj under the anti-mafia law or as it joins initiatives for worker-peasant control through the courts! Just as they remain silent and purse their lips when unauthorized floors in front of buildings are reported! This is no coincidence. This is a scheme. Some try to justify it: "He defends Xhafaj because they were together in the Labor Party." No friends, this is much deeper. The defense comes from cooperation with the same businessmen who feed the two autocrats: – Rama in government – Berisha in opposition That is why no wealth investigation is demanded for Xhafaj under the anti-mafia law. That is why there is silence about solar panel licenses and direct benefits. That is why anyone who touches this network is attacked, and apparently that is why Berisha claims that I wanted to kill Xhafaj! The truth is simple and bitter: Sali Berisha is not an alternative for a change of power, but the other face of the same coin! He is a mechanism for keeping Edi Rama in power. And for this reason, the battle is twofold: 👉 to overthrow the autocrat in government 👉 to remove the usurper in opposition Without cleaning up the opposition, Albania cannot be won. The Democratic Party needs change, Albania needs change! Enough is enough!
