Sali Berisha is a 82-year-old spent political figure, declared "Non Grata" by Albania's main ally, the USA, and who cannot mobilize democrats and ordinary citizens to overthrow Prime Minister Edi Rama from power. So said Ervin Salianji, who aims to run for chairman of the Democratic Party, during a meeting with democrats from Kukës held this Sunday. The former MP emphasized that it has been one of his most appropriate decisions, breaking away from "a 36-year-old politics of mud, contempt, slander, and attacking the political opponent within the party." "We know, dear friends, and cannot change the political opponent; the opponent of the DP and Albania is Edi Rama, and we must defeat him. We should not always say that Edi Rama beat us; we must train and beat and defeat Edi Rama. I am proud that in every hall, I am supported by people like you. The truest democrats are in this hall because they know the concern and instinct of democrats to win. Some ask where your figures are; the figures are those who vote for democrats. Those who are leaders and the leadership of the DP speak across tables as we speak in this public. In return, we have received deceit and slander. I have done the right thing by separating from a 36-year-old politics of mud, contempt, slander, and the political opponent within the party," said Salianji. The former MP admitted before the democrats of Kukës that he himself should have spoken much earlier about the political agony happening to the Democratic Party. "Even I, despite having won in the areas assigned to me, bear a burden of responsibility that I should have spoken earlier. Now the DP is a runaway train that is not stopping, heading towards an abyss," said Salianji.
