Traffic through the Llogara Tunnel is expected to soon no longer be free, as the official application of tolls for every vehicle using this road axis is anticipated to begin within this month. Currently, the process has entered its final phase, where the last tests for the payment system's operation have been completed. Security cameras and modern electronic devices have been installed throughout the tunnel, which will enable the automatic identification and tolling of vehicles. According to the planned scheme, tolls will vary based on the vehicle category. Motorcycles will pay around 100 lek, while for regular vehicles the toll will be 250 lek for one pass, or 500 lek for a round trip. Vehicles with trailers will be charged 500 lek, whereas vans and buses around 1000 lek. Meanwhile, for heavy-tonnage vehicles the toll could reach up to 5,000 lek, making this one of the most significant toll axes in the south of the country. Authorities aim through this system to better manage traffic and ensure the long-term maintenance of the tunnel, which is considered one of the most strategic investments in Albania's road infrastructure.
