Public transport associations have warned of drastic measures following a lack of support from institutions to cope with rising fuel prices. Starting from April 15, they declare they will reduce by about 40% the number of buses in Tirana and the fleet in districts. Despite continuous requests and a meeting on April 1, 2026, operators report that no concrete decision has been made regarding subsidies or tax relief. According to them, there is a lack of a compensation scheme and no deadline for intervention from institutions. They call on citizens for understanding and trip planning, emphasizing that this situation is a result of the lack of timely response and not from the operators' desire.
