This year, Albanian farmers' agricultural machinery will cost more, the removal of oil from the list of support measures in the national scheme, and the war on the other hand for agriculture will lead to an increase in production costs. According to economic experts, the 5.2 billion lek fund for Albanian farmers should have been better managed during wartime.

"I am surprised by the fact that the government decided to remove the oil subsidy with the justification that with the new scheme they are trying more towards the producing farmer. But let's not forget the fact that not only has the cost of oil increased in global markets, but also the costs of agricultural inputs, which are a byproduct of oil, are rising," declared economic expert Ergis Sefa.

Unlike us, countries in the region and Europe have implemented another supportive policy. Farmers' tractors in Kosovo and Serbia will work the land much cheaper than our farmers.

"Kosovo and Serbia have significantly increased the level of subsidies while maintaining oil support. Meanwhile, in Europe, countries like Austria and Italy have kept the oil subsidy by reducing the excise tax, and thus the farmer gets it cheaper," said economic expert Ergis Sefa.

In 2025, oil for agriculture cost the Albanian budget 2.2 billion lek, approximately 50 thousand farmers benefited from direct support for fuel. In the 2025 national scheme, farmer's oil has been replaced by another measure aimed at reducing production costs. All farmers who have more than 3 hectares of land will receive 10 thousand lek per hectare.
