Spring has brought back the danger of fires in some areas of the country, where the burning of agricultural surfaces to open new plots has caused several outbreaks in the Elbasan district. The most problematic situation was recorded on Mount Koshnicë, in the Skënderbegas area, part of Gramsh, where flames have threatened considerable areas. After the intervention of the firefighting forces, the fire has been brought under control, while the Gramsh fire service has called on residents for more caution, avoiding uncontrolled burning of lands. Authorities also recall the severe consequences of last summer in Skënderbegas, where as a result of fires one person lost their life, 68 homes were affected, of which 10 were completely burned down, while around 300 head of livestock and hundreds of hectares of land and forests were burned. Under these conditions, firefighting units have been placed on heightened alert and are calling for citizen cooperation to prevent the recurrence of similar situations. Fire cases have also been reported in the municipality of Librazhd, where within one day three outbreaks were identified, which were neutralized in time. However, during the past week, two homes have also burned down, one of them used for business activities.
