Prime Minister Edi Rama has concluded the meeting with municipal leaders, providing instructions and priorities for the discussed issues. "What we talked about, let's do all these tasks as well and as quickly as possible," Rama expressed at the end of the meeting. He emphasized the importance of improving the waste collection system, especially in urban areas and during the tourist season. The Prime Minister highlighted the creation of a task force between the government and local authorities, which will be led by the Ministry of Environment and Local Government, to coordinate actions from awareness-raising to concrete interventions. Additionally, Rama announced that a significant legal change is being prepared for territorial planning and development, merging three existing structures and prioritizing housing through specific government projects. The Prime Minister also mentioned cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Defense to create a "cooperation bridge," including protective infrastructure such as dams, to protect lands and homes from floods and ensure the functioning of the protection system. He requested that mayors convey the analysis of the system's weak points to the Minister of Local Government, to better channel funding and increase priority interventions, including the capacities of the Ministry of Defense. "These tasks we discussed, let's do them all and as well as possible," Rama told the mayors. Among other things, the head of government said: "We are working on and repairing the waste collection system. I'm talking about waste that is a problem, especially during the tourist season, in non-urban areas. It is necessary to establish a task force between the government and local authorities, which has been tasked to the Minister of Environment and Local Government, from awareness-raising to the steps that need to be taken. Meanwhile, we are preparing a significant legal change regarding territorial planning and development. Today we have three structures, which will be merged together because we need to prioritize housing. For this, we are working with some specific projects, as we have committed. With the Ministry of Agriculture and Defense, we have discussed the creation of a cooperation bridge. I also have in mind the protective infrastructure, dams that are essential to protect lands and homes from floods and to ensure the proper functioning of this system. Here we need you; we need and will need you to convey to the Minister of Local Government the analysis of the weak points of the protection system. Having a format for weak points and priorities helps us channel funding for interventions that will significantly increase, also putting the Ministry of Defense to work. We have made plans to increase internal capacities," said Prime Minister Rama.
