At least 22 people were injured after a passenger train derailed in the Ulyanovsk region, about 900 kilometers east of Moscow. Local authorities confirm there are no fatalities.
According to the regional governor, Alexei Ruskih, seven carriages of the train connecting Chelyabinsk to Moscow derailed in an accident that occurred in the early morning hours.
The incident was recorded near the Briandino station, about 70 kilometers from Ulyanovsk. Ruskih stated that he personally went to the scene to closely monitor the situation.
Footage broadcast by Vesti shows several overturned carriages near the tracks, while the area was covered in dense fog.
Meanwhile, the governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Alexei Teksler, declared that two people suffered fractures, while about 20 others, including a child, sustained minor injuries. He emphasized that there are no fatalities, correcting an earlier report that mentioned only 7 injured.
According to Russian Railways, there were 412 passengers on the train. Initial information about the incident was published by RIA Novosti.
