The first reactions to the elections in Hungary were messages from Alex Soros and Sali Berisha. Both appeared happy about the loss of Viktor Orbán, Donald Trump's strategic ally in the European Union. But what makes Berisha and Soros's simultaneous celebration of the Hungarian elections tragicomic?
Two parties have declared Soros in Europe: 1- Berisha's Democratic Party 2- Orbán's Hungarian Civic Alliance. Everyone understands Alex Soros's joy, but why is Berisha celebrating the loss of his last ally in Europe?
Today, Berisha's Trumpism showed its true colors. The American government was financially, politically, and diplomatically invested in the electoral campaign in Hungary. JD Vance and Marco Rubio expressed support and visited Budapest. At the closing rally of Viktor Orbán's electoral campaign, the American vice president participated, and in a phone call, Donald Trump urged Hungarians to vote for his friend Orbán.
Orbán's loss was the biggest international blow against American and Russian interference in elections. Never before in history had Trump and Putin jointly invested in a country's political elections and lost by 2/3 of the votes.
The bastion of Eurosceptics and the puppets of Washington and Moscow has taken a unique hit.
The Hungarian lesson has produced four important messages for the political establishment in Albania:
1- No European country can have a future and security if it prioritizes partnerships with political regimes that are against the EU. Albania is obliged to prioritize EU membership and membership in provisional peace boards, even if they are American.
2- Prime Minister Rama must realize that after 16 years, in the 2029 elections, it won't be Ivanka Trump keeping him in power, but the votes of Albanians; otherwise, he will face Orbán's fate.
3- Sali Berisha is the most irresponsible opposition leader who, in 50 years in politics, has had to be: pro-Russian, pro-Chinese, pro-French, pro-Serb, pro-American, pro-European, pro-Greek. His diplomatic turbulence has personally led him to a blacklist and politically led his party toward destruction.
4- The opposition must produce a new leader like Péter Magyar to be an alternative against the Rama-Berisha duo.
In Albania, nothing else can change by relying either on Hungary's Trumpists or Albania's traps.
The wonders of our nation show how little footing we have in international partnerships. A single election in Hungary was enough, and Albania's Trumpists came out against Hungary's Trumpists. They simply showed they have no connection to the anti-Soros cause because today they celebrated together. Once there was a Machiavellian advice: "When you don't dominate with votes, learn to dominate with imported friendships." Nevertheless, the Hungarian people showed patriotism and the level of national intelligence to slap Washington and Moscow by ousting the political fossils of the 90s who were threatening Hungary's interests. And when will we bury Albania's Orbán corpses?
