11 individuals were arrested for the riots they caused during yesterday's protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, called by the Democratic Party. Additionally, 15 others have been criminally charged, including minors.

The police announced that the 11 individuals were handcuffed because they threw Molotov cocktails and other pyrotechnic materials toward the Prime Minister's Office, as well as physically assaulted police officers during the gathering. According to sources, among those charged are Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu and activist Aulon Kalaja. The latter were injured yesterday during clashes with the police.

They threw incendiary materials (Molotov cocktails) and pyrotechnic substances, resisted, and assaulted police officers during the protest held on April 17, 2026. Eleven citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto.

Fifteen other citizens have been criminally charged.

During the protest, as a result of the attack with Molotov cocktails and pyrotechnic materials, five police officers were injured.

During the intervention, police services seized 45 Molotov cocktails that some protesters had prepared to continue the attack against police officers and state institutions.

During the protest organized by the political entity Democratic Party on April 17, 2026, some participants were caught in flagrante delicto throwing incendiary materials (Molotov cocktails) and pyrotechnic substances toward the Prime Minister's Office building, as well as resisting and assaulting State Police officers with Molotov cocktails and pyrotechnic materials. These officers were engaged in ensuring public order and safety.

As a result, five police officers were injured during the protest. They received hospital treatment and are out of life-threatening danger.

In continuation of actions to legally document acts of violence and hold perpetrators accountable, specialists from the Sector for Investigation of Serious Crimes at the Tirana Police Directorate arrested in flagrante delicto the following citizens: K. ร‡., 38 years old; B. T., 29 years old; H. Sh., 30 years old; M. T., 50 years old; I. D., 18 years old; S. B., 25 years old; B. N., 42 years old; G. T., 48 years old; E. Sh., 37 years old; S. B., 55 years old; and E. K., 32 years old. They are charged with the criminal offenses of "Assault due to duty," "Disturbance of public peace," "Unauthorized production and possession of weapons and war ammunition," "Destruction of property by fire," and "Resisting a public order officer."

Additionally, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the following citizens: A. T., 20 years old; A. C., 51 years old; A. R., 25 years old; N. M., 30 years old; R. N., 25 years old; Nj. S., 25 years old; E. N., 27 years old; D. K., 30 years old; E. B., 39 years old; A. Z., 20 years old; A. P., 20 years old; and two minor citizens, aged 16 and 17, for the criminal offense of "Disturbance of public peace."

Furthermore, materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen K. B., an MP, for the criminal offense of "Organizing and participating in unlawful gatherings and demonstrations," as well as against citizen A. K. for the criminal offense of "Assault due to duty."

The investigative group continues its work to identify other citizens who may have committed unlawful acts during yesterday's protest.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
