Karakaçi stated that this project will, for the first time, create a corridor connecting the Alps to the Adriatic coast, thereby ensuring a tourist season from winter to summer. "The Gateway of the Alps involves a financing agreement with the European Bank for 50 million euros and 50 million euros allocated from the Albanian government budget. 100 million euros in total for special nature infrastructure projects. The program and agreement include several components for the rehabilitation of urban squares and the reconstruction of boulevards. Infrastructure investments in the axes connecting the Velipoja coast, Lake Shkodra, the Buna River, and the Alps. Investments in sewage-water supply networks, urban transport, and tourism elements for managing urban pollution. For the first time, we are creating an integrated corridor between the Alps and the Adriatic coast to have a tourist season from winter to summer and to aid economic development," the minister expressed.
