Three illegally built houses on a high-water canal in Vlorë were demolished this Tuesday as part of an action undertaken by the Territory Protection Inspectorate, in cooperation with the State Police.
Present on site was also the Mayor of Vlorë Municipality, Brunilda Mersini, who emphasized that the intervention was necessary to free the canal and restore its normal function.
According to local authorities, the illegal constructions had obstructed water circulation, causing repeated floods in the surrounding areas in recent years.
The municipality announced that the action will continue in the coming days, until the canal is completely cleared of any illegal encroachment. Meanwhile, the families affected by the demolitions will receive social support, including rental bonuses and social housing programs.
