Italy and Albania were shaken by the murder of Ilaria Sula, a 22-year-old Albanian woman who was killed by her Filipino boyfriend, Mark Samson. Ilaria Sula's parents, in an exclusive interview for the show "Me Zemër të Hapur," hosted by author and moderator Evis Ahmeti, revealed their last phone call with their daughter. Father Flamur Sula recounted that their final conversation lasted 15 minutes and the topic discussed was that of daily routine, and the girl had said she would return home in a few days. "For us, there is no more life because when a parent loses a child, they have lost everything. We are two living beings breathing to pursue her justice to the end. March 25 was the day we last spoke with Ilaria, she spoke with me and my wife. The conversation was ordinary, we asked her what she had done that day and how her studies were going, the daily routine when we talked together. We talked for about 15 minutes and she gave us no signal that would let us understand something. We didn't understand something because I wouldn't have stayed without doing anything. Ilaria told us she would come home on Saturday morning on the 29th. She told me she would come and leave me an appointment at the hairdresser. We expected her to come home on Saturday morning. That Tuesday, I myself don't understand how we never spoke on the phone, whereas before we would talk at least every day or every two days. On the 29th, my wife sent her an SMS to ask if she had caught the train, but the SMS didn't go through and the phone was off. This had never happened before and we became alarmed. We thought maybe she had lost her phone, the train came and went, but Ilaria never arrived," he said.
