President Donald Trump said on Sunday that American forces targeted and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship after it attempted to breach the U.S. maritime blockade in the Gulf of Oman. "Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 meters long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to run our naval blockade and it didn't go well for them," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "The U.S. Navy's guided-missile destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman and gave them an immediate warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship promptly stopped them by opening a hole in the engine room. Currently, American marines have custody of the vessel." Trump's announcement comes as he accused Iran of violating the current ceasefire agreement with its actions on the vital waterway. Tehran has again blocked the passage of most ships through the strait, claiming that the U.S. has "broken trust."
