With the approach of the Orthodox Easter holiday, a significant increase in traffic has been observed at the Kakavijë and Kapshticë border points along the border with Greece. As every year, many Albanian emigrants living in the neighboring country are returning to their homeland to spend the holidays with their families. The latest data from border authorities show that in the last 24 hours alone, over 6,000 citizens have been processed entering and exiting, with a clear dominance of entries towards Albania. Simultaneously, a considerable number of vehicles have been recorded, reflecting the growing flow of travelers. Denser movements were also noted at Kapshticë during the evening of April 9, where many people chose to travel towards Albania for the holidays. To manage the situation, the Albanian side has increased the number of operational booths, favoring entries and avoiding the formation of long queues. On the other hand, on the Greek side, the situation appears more congested, with travelers reporting wait times of up to 90 minutes. Authorities remain in continuous monitoring and warn that an even higher flow is expected at these border points in the coming days.
