A fire broke out in a multi-story building in the Gjevdet Nepravishta neighborhood, near the hospital in Lushnje, causing panic among local residents.
According to preliminary information, the fire was initially noticed by residents who observed smoke and immediately alerted the fire department. The prompt intervention of the Lushnje fire brigade managed to contain the flames to an apartment on the third floor, preventing the fire from spreading to other units.
Police services also arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation to fully determine the cause of the fire.
Preliminarily, the fire is suspected to have been intentional. Police sources indicate that the apartment owner, a citizen around 40 years old, is suspected of setting fire to the apartment in several areas before leaving the scene.
According to the same sources, he is suspected of having mental health issues. Currently, police forces are engaged in searching for and apprehending him, while investigations continue to fully document the incident.
