Alfred Muharremi Kika, the Socialist Party advisor in the Tirana Municipal Council, has declared that public transportation service should be provided by the state and no longer by private entities.

In a reaction on social media following the issues faced by citizens today with the reduction in the number of buses operating public transport, he added that it is intolerable for people to be left stranded on the streets.

"Concerned by the decision-making of public transport companies, which despite the widespread support from the Albanian government, have reduced their fleet in service to citizens. Once they raised the ticket price citing the increase in fuel prices during the crisis some time ago, even though it decreased, they kept it unchanged... today they are again making this maneuver, which is not at all within the rules and the realm of social responsibility that a company should have. In short, total abuse. This is why the public transportation service should be provided by the state itself," he writes.
