The Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, responded to Fatmir Mediu following his request to urgently convene the National Security Council, a day after the U.S. embassy warned that Iran could pose a threat to Albania. Peleshi called on Mediu to be more careful with his statements and to avoid spreading panic among the public. He emphasized that the words of a deputy have a significant impact on public opinion and can cause concern, even if the statement lacks concrete basis. According to Peleshi, such calls should first be discussed privately, not publicly, to avoid misunderstandings and political exploitation. "I make a very serious appeal to you as an experienced politician to rise to the responsibility of the words you say, because they have consequences on public opinion, because a statement from a deputy is taken seriously and can cause panic even if it may be a baseless declaration. Such serious calls should be consulted in non-public discussions, because the public thinks you have thought it through, not knowing that it is often created for politics," said Peleshi.
