Today, the judicial process against Mayor Erion Veliaj began at the GJKKO, but the session was accompanied by procedural developments regarding the absence of the defendant. Veliaj was not present in the courtroom, and according to statements, the General Directorate of Prisons did not execute the court order for his accompaniment to the session. His lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, stated that his client's absence constitutes an obstacle to the normal development of the trial, emphasizing that Veliaj has not expressed a will to participate or not participate in the session. He also raised claims regarding the investigative file, requesting that all volumes be made available according to the court order. On the other hand, representatives of SPAK stated that, according to current circumstances, Erion Veliaj has not been informed of the date and time of the session. They added that the Prison Directorate has not taken the necessary measures for his notification and accompaniment, demanding that the reasons for inaction be clarified.
