The renowned singer, Afërdita Zonja, has shared her life between Albania and America, as well as how she met her husband. In a special interview for "Galeri," part of "E Diell," she said that she and her husband, Artur, a well-known journalist, met in high school, where he studied violin. "We were close friends and even we didn't realize when we got together," she expressed, adding that they have built a happy life together. After the '90s, the Zonja family applied for the American lottery and won it. Because both were working, they often traveled to America, but the decision to move permanently was made after they retired. "I am a girl from Korçë. My mother and father have passed away. My father left us early, while my mother raised five children alone. Even now, I don't understand where she found that strength and dedication for us. This situation made us even more responsible. My sister and brother, older than me, supported our mother a lot, studying and working at the same time. I was among the first artists to perform my first recital with the song 'Goddess of Beauty.' I completed elementary and high school of music in Korçë. From being a student, I became a teacher in that school. One of my first students was Eli Fara. My beginnings in music were at the age of 15, and then I continued with participation in festivals. From my family, I had a lot of dedication; everyone cared about my health and clothing, they watched over me carefully, I was the most pampered. I met Artur in high school; he studied violin. We were close classmates. We didn't even realize that from close friendship we would become a couple. We have built a happy life, with two wonderful children. We got married in Korçë. His family helped me a lot in raising the children, as they are twins. After the '90s, I went to America several times for concerts. I saw the USA as a land of great opportunities. One day, jokingly, we entered the American lottery, as all Korçë residents did. We won, and we couldn't let this opportunity go. We took advantage of it. But, we were working; we went for 6 months, we came and went. The day we retired, we decided to go. We Korçë people like America," she expressed.
