Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Saeed Khatibzadeh, stated that his country is not yet ready for a new round of face-to-face negotiations with the United States. According to him, this is because Washington is not backing down from what he describes as "maximalist" demands on key issues. The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that Tehran will not hand over enriched uranium to the U.S., considering this an unacceptable proposal, despite statements made by Donald Trump on Friday. He made it known that there have been contacts between the two countries, but Iran insists that a "framework agreement" must first be reached before direct meetings can take place. According to him, the U.S. must understand and address Iran's main concerns, including the lifting of sanctions imposed on the country. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Trump declared that "very good talks" are taking place between the two sides.
