Greece has endured an exceptionally difficult 24 hours due to the severe weather system "Erminio," which struck many areas of the country with particular intensity. Beyond the hard-hit Attica basin, islands such as Rhodes, Poros, and Sikinos experienced the severe impacts of the storm, which brought torrential rains and flooding.

The island of Rhodes was battered by southern storm-force winds reaching up to 110 kilometers per hour. At the same time, as reported by ERT, waves in the port exceeded 3 meters. Rushing waters flooded the Municipal Units of Embonas and Mandrikos, while in many areas trees were uprooted and material damage was recorded.

Due to the worsening situation from Wednesday evening until today, residents of Rhodes have been asked to limit their movements. At "Diagoras" Airport, strong winds caused the cancellation of dozens of flights, with at least 10 charter planes altering course and heading to other destinations, such as Kos and Antalya in Turkey. Simultaneously, ships remained blocked due to the dangerous winds.
