In a farm with 220 goats in Shupenzë of Bulqizë, an outbreak of small ruminant plague has been confirmed. The National Authority of Veterinary and Plant Protection stated that the case was suspected on March 30, and after the virus was confirmed through laboratory analysis, the animals on the farm were culled and the entire environment was disinfected. The farm was placed under quarantine, and an epidemiological investigation was conducted in an area of about 10 km.

The National Authority of Veterinary and Plant Protection said no other suspected cases have been identified.

The Authority calls on all small animal breeders to implement biosecurity measures and restrict the movement of animals within and outside farms. Goat plague is a disease that is not transmitted to humans.
