The National Food Authority in Shkodër, in cooperation with the Shkodër Police, has undertaken another action as part of ensuring food safety in the country.
The AKU team conducted an unplanned inspection at the Elidon Bala facility, which operates in "fruit and vegetable processing/packaging."
During on-site verifications, serious violations related to compliance with hygiene and sanitary standards were found in the areas where food products are handled.
For this reason, AKU has taken a series of immediate administrative measures:
A fine of 500,000 lekë, under Law No. 9863, dated 28.01.2008 "On Food" (amended), based on Article 68, paragraph 1, letter (h), for violations contrary to Article 23, non-compliance with legal requirements regarding hygiene and sanitary conditions for the safety and handling of food products;
Immediate suspension of production activity, under Law No. 99/2024 "On Inspection in the Republic of Albania," Article 46, paragraph 1, as an urgent administrative measure in cases where a serious risk to public interest and food safety is identified;
Blocking of the product in the quantity of 110 tons, until the completion of legal procedures and decision-making for disposal, in accordance with the legislation in force for non-compliance with hygiene and sanitary conditions.
