A teacher in the USA faces life imprisonment for a series of 25 charges of rape and sexual abuse involving two students as young as 10 years old. Marissa Noel was arrested and charged on Monday following a two-month investigation into her conduct with a fifth-grade student at Teche Elementary School. The 31-year-old was later charged with more severe accusations after another victim was identified.
The 31-year-old teacher will be tried on a total of 25 charges, including first-degree rape. If convicted, Noel could face up to life imprisonment under state law. Authorities have not released the exact ages of the victims, but at least one was in the fifth grade.
The second set of charges included 10 counts of indecent behavior with minors and two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. She is also charged with unlawful communications and harassment, as well as using a computer to solicit minors. Noel is being held at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
