The four astronauts of the Artemis II mission have for the first time shared their experiences after returning from a record-breaking 10-day journey around the Moon, making history as the people who have traveled farthest from Earth.
At a special reception at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, the crew consisting of Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen were greeted with applause and enthusiasm from the audience.
The astronauts covered a distance of approximately 406,771 kilometers from Earth, setting a new record in the history of space exploration.
During their speeches, they shared the emotions and challenges experienced on this unique mission. Christina Koch, the only woman on the crew, highlighted a moment that had particularly moved her.
"People asked us what impressions we had. It wasn't just Earth that struck me, but the infinite darkness surrounding it. It looked as if our planet was a ship suspended in the universe," she expressed.
