The 22-year-old Albanian, who turned out to be the last person in the hotel room where 19-year-old Myrto from Kefalonia spent her final hours, categorically denies the accusations against him.
The young man admitted to the investigative judge that he knew the 26-year-old former weightlifter who provided the cocaine to the girl, but denied knowing the 23-year-old, the victim's boyfriend, and the victim herself. Regarding his presence at the hotel on the fatal night, he stated it was coincidental, as he had gone to meet another person staying there for the Easter holidays, while he described the accusation against him as unjust.
"I did not go to the hotel to meet the accused or the 19-year-old. Yes, I know the 26-year-old, but I did not go to find them. I was staying in another room and had gone for another person who was there for Easter. I have no connection with the other accused. I did not consume alcohol or substances with them. I was knocked on the door around 04:20 for help. I went to help and saw that the girl was not well.
In the video, it appears that when I go down the stairs, I am holding her jacket. I waited for the ambulance; I did not leave. I do not know the girl. From the calls, it turns out I had no prior communication with them. I do not know what happened in the room, as I was not there, except when they asked for help. The accusation against me is unjust," he stated.
On the other hand, the 26-year-old former weightlifter admitted to the investigator that he had twice purchased narcotics for consumption in the room where the 19-year-old was also present. He stated that the second use occurred around 04:00 in the morning, the moment when the girl's condition worsened.
"I thought she was having an epileptic seizure," he said, adding that he tried to help by putting his hand in her mouth to prevent her tongue from blocking.
According to him, there are also bite marks on his fingers, and he has requested a forensic examination to verify this. He also admitted that he initially lied to the authorities, denying that he was with the 19-year-old that night.
According to the 26-year-old, the 22-year-old was in an adjacent room and was called for help when the situation worsened. He claimed that his friend cleared the way for transporting the girl, while he himself carried her down in his arms. They then placed her outside and covered her with a coat until the ambulance arrived. Both claim they did not abandon the 19-year-old.
