The testimony of the father of the 14-year-old who carried out the massacre at a school in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, has been made public. Uyyur Mersinli, the father of Isa Aras Mersinli, stated that his son was experiencing psychological problems and receiving professional support, with the last visit to a specialist psychologist occurring about three weeks before the incident. According to him, the minor's condition had recently worsened, and the treatment had not been progressing well.
He admitted that the weapons used in the attack were his and legally registered. According to the statement, he owned seven weapons, which were kept in a locked box along with the magazines. "The box was always locked, and my son did not know where the key was. I honestly don't know how it was opened and how he took five of them," he expressed, adding that the weapons were located in the bedroom.
According to preliminary information, the youth had recently played online shooting games and had expressed great interest in them. He had told friends that he liked weapons, and his father had even taken him to a shooting range. It is also suspected that he had sent friends a photo showing him with a pistol, claiming to be very skilled in using firearms.
