The luxury "Serena" hotel has been transformed into the epicenter of peace talks between the U.S. and Iran, while Islamabad has been placed under high-security measures for this high-level meeting.
Pakistani authorities have closed offices and businesses for several days, as thousands of security forces, including paramilitary troops and soldiers, have set up checkpoints throughout the city.
Security measures have been intensified ahead of the arrival of the American delegation led by JD Vance and senior Iranian officials.
The Red Zone of Islamabad, which houses government institutions and embassies, has been completely isolated, turning the capital into a fortified area for the negotiations.
Although it may seem an unusual choice for such sensitive talks, the "Serena" hotel is considered one of the most secure buildings in the city, thanks to its location near the diplomatic zone and its experience in hosting high-level delegations.
The luxury complex includes over 400 rooms, conference halls, and large reception areas, making it suitable for large delegations, such as those from the U.S. and Iran, which together number more than 150 people.
According to former security officials, the hotel has an advanced security system with multi-level controls and trained staff, often with experience in state security structures, as well as close coordination with government agencies.
