A rather unusual incident involved a young man in China who had lived for 20 years with a thermometer inside his body. The 32-year-old presented at the hospital with abdominal pain. After examinations, doctors discovered that a thermometer he had swallowed as a child was still inside him. Local media report that the 32-year-old had swallowed the thermometer in childhood and was afraid to tell his parents, while over time he had completely forgotten about the episode. As time passed, it began to press on internal tissues, creating a risk of internal bleeding. Surgeons successfully removed the thermometer during an operation.
