The High Court has rejected the appeal of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku regarding the ban on her leaving the country. The measure was imposed by the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime following a request from the Special Prosecution Office. The decision at the High Court was made by Judge Ilir Panda, who upheld the blocking of the former deputy prime minister's passport. The travel document has been seized since November 19, by order of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime.
Balluku faces charges of violating equality in tenders, which has been communicated as part of ongoing investigations. She is also under investigation regarding the issue of the 7 lots of the Great Ring Water Supply, and is suspected of involvement in three other tenders. With this decision, the "ban on leaving the country" measure remains in effect, while investigations against her continue.
