Prime Minister Edi Rama mocked the opposition as the Socialist Party has launched its campaign for the 2027 local elections. During a meeting with supporters, Rama said the opposition is asleep and scattered in cafes. "That's why this process we have started is certainly related to beginning work for the upcoming elections, as we have always done this work. We have always started early. Where are they now? Right now, at this hour while we are speaking, where are they? Are they sleeping because Luli is, yes, but where are the others? They are in cafes, at home, they are doing... Surely they are not holding a meeting now on how we will organize for... But this is not just today. This is every day, every afternoon. That's why they later say: 'No, it's the patronage.' But what is patronage? Here, you are the patronage. Who are the patrons? No one gives us success for free. Now, I am very glad that I did not leave this duty without achieving the day when we start systematically increasing pensions. However, it is not something we did not know or did not want to do, but we could not do it. And you know very well, as you have followed me and we have met other times before, that when you asked: 'Hey, what about the pensions?', I said one thing that was true: We do not have the means to do it today. We must grow the economy. We must increase our capabilities so we can afford to pay pensions, because we cannot engage in adventures," said Rama.
