Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament who led the negotiations in Islamabad, mocked Donald Trump in a post on X, referring to the U.S. plans to block the Strait of Hormuz. "Enjoy the current fuel prices. With the so-called 'blockade,' you will soon miss the $4โ€“5 oil," the post stated, accompanied by a map that appears to show fuel prices around Washington. In a previous statement broadcast by Iranian media, Ghalibaf said that Iran would not "surrender under threats." Oil prices rose above $100 per barrel after energy markets reopened following the failure of talks between the U.S. and Iran over a new agreement, while Trump declared he would impose a blockade on Iranian ports. Brent crude is around $102, with concerns that escalating conflict could further deepen the global energy crisis.
