The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, appeared this Monday at the Special Prosecution Office. The Democratic leader has been subjected to the security measure 'obligation to appear,' reports Top Channel's Anila Hoxha. As he approached the SPAK premises, he was greeted by his supporters. Berisha is accused of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected representatives," while his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi is accused of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected representatives," and "Money laundering of criminal proceeds or criminal activity," in the investigative file "Partizani." Businessman Fatmir Bektashi is accused of "Active corruption of high state officials," while Xhimi Begeja and Andia Pustina are accused of "Money Laundering." On July 7, 2025, Jamarbër Malltezi was released from house arrest. In the session, the Special Court decided that Malltezi be released from house arrest, upon request of property bail, after 20 months of being held under this measure. The property bail requested by GJKKO is 3 million lekë.
