The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party has submitted a request to the Assembly for an urgent interpellation with the Minister of Energy.
"Honorable Mr. Speaker of the Assembly, Based on the international situation caused by the war in Iran, a situation which has influenced the rapid increase of energy prices, especially oil and its derivatives;
Based on the fact that the International Energy Agency (IEA) has directed EU countries to prepare for the release of oil from the Strategic Reserves;
Based on the fact that the Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Dan Jorgensen, has requested member countries of the European Union to prepare for possible interruptions in energy supply, through a letter addressed to the energy ministers,
Based on the fact that the Prime Minister has spoken about a new model for maintaining the Strategic Energy Reserve as well as the establishment of a state company that will enter the oil and its derivatives trading market;
Based on the fact that the situation is changing very rapidly and we have entered a real emergency in facing this crisis;
For the above reasons, Albania faces major tasks in preparing for an energy crisis which would require significant state commitment, and particularly concrete measures from the Ministry of Energy regarding guaranteeing fuel supply, proper management of the Strategic Reserve, and institutional coordination with the EU and IEA.
Therefore, considering the above, in my capacity as a deputy of the Assembly of Albania, based on Article 80, point 1 of the Constitution and Article 96, points 1 and 2 of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, I request the development of an urgent interpellation with the Minister of Energy and Transport, to provide explanations and information related to the above."
