New details have emerged regarding the assassination that left two victims, Kreshnik and Gentiana Mujeci, today in Balldre, Lezhë. One line of investigation being pursued by the police is the feud between the Mhillaj and Mujeci clans, which originated in October 2016 from a momentary conflict over trivial motives.

According to data, it all began when the 2016 victim, Genc Mhillaj, had left his vehicle on the main road in the center of Torovicë village, blocking the passage of other vehicles. At that moment, a vehicle carrying members of the Mujeci clan arrived at the scene and asked him to move the car so they could continue on their way to their home.

Initially, Mhillaj hesitated to move the vehicle, forcing them to wait. The argument between the parties escalated, and the situation worsened when he slapped one of the young men from the Mujeci clan. After this episode, the road was cleared, and the parties left, but the conflict had taken a dangerous turn. The young men of the Mujeci clan later asked Genc Mhillaj to apologize for the incident, but he refused. In the following days, he continued his daily activities, moving around with the truck he used to transport flour.

The event took a tragic turn when, during a trip with this vehicle, Genc Mhillaj was ambushed. According to investigations at the time, it is suspected that Kreshnik Mujeci, his brother Lin Mujeci, and a relative of theirs, Jozef Mujeci, were at the scene. They are suspected of stopping him to demand explanations, but the argument degenerated into the use of firearms.

Mhillaj attempted to flee on foot, but was shot with automatic gunfire, dying on the spot. After the incident, the police initially arrested Jozef Mujeci, and a year later, the brothers Lin and Kreshnik Mujeci.

However, despite the evidence gathered from the investigations, including a suspected vehicle near the scene with the engine still warm, the Shkodër Court declared them innocent due to lack of evidence. Although the court's decision acquitted them, the Mhillaj family remained convinced that the perpetrators of the murder were members of the Mujeci clan, keeping the conflict between the two families alive.

Subsequently, most members of the Mujeci clan have been cautious in their movements, avoiding frequenting Torovicë village and moving in a controlled manner. This was not the case for today's victim, Kreshnik Mujeci, who often moved around, usually accompanied by his wife, despite objections from family members.

It is precisely these movements that seem to have made him more exposed and easily traceable. It is suspected that he was surveilled and ambushed at the moment of his return, where he and his wife were shot with automatic weapons, killing them both. Today's event is considered a continuation of a chain of revenge that began years ago from a momentary conflict but ended in a bloody clash between the two clans.
