The Appointed Chairwoman of Tirana Municipality, Anuela Ristani, spoke at the meeting of the Tirana Municipal Council about the fire at the 'Arlis' Complex and the difficulties faced by transport companies following the increase in fuel prices due to the outbreak of war in Iran.

During her speech at the meeting, Ristani stated that the rental bonus for families affected by the fire at the 'Arlis' complex will be provided until the building is rehabilitated.

"The large-scale fire at the Arlis Company left dozens of families homeless, with significant material damageโ€”fortunately, only material damage. There have been all possible interventions from all actors, not just the firefighters, who were fully committed. In such cases, life is the most important, and this was successfully achieved. Certainly, the response to assist the residents was immediate in the administration. We confirmed that we had the legal basis to provide a housing contribution for these residents during this interim period when they have been left homeless, until their homes are rehabilitated," Ristani said, among other things.

While discussing the difficulties faced by urban transport companies due to the increase in fuel prices, Ristani asked the municipal councilors to approve the draft decision of the Council of Ministers to compensate these companies with 50 new lek per liter during this difficult period.

"Secondly, there is the global energy situation with the rise in fuel prices, which has deeply impacted the sustainability of public transport operators' operations. The municipality operates public transport through third-party contracts. It does not have its own fleet. All operational expenses have increased significantly. The impact of fuel prices is visible and critical for the transport sector. This situation has raised costs. The draft decision of the Council of Ministers provides for compensating these companies with 50 lek per liter of fuel. Approving this initiative is important to ensure that public transport services are supported and not negatively affected by external economic factors," Ristani said, among other things.
