The Municipality of Tirana has presented a contingency plan in case the construction company "Arlis" goes bankrupt before rebuilding from scratch the apartment building on Dibra Street in the capital, which was engulfed by flames a few days ago, leaving several families homeless.

Asked by a councilor during today's meeting of the Municipal Council about what will happen if the company goes bankrupt before the completion of the works, the acting mayor of Tirana Municipality, Anuela Ristani, assured citizens that if such a thing happens, the Municipality has a policy to intervene by compensating for structural damages up to 50%, as well as the interior of the burned apartments up to 100%.

"We do not have a contractual relationship with the company, so I cannot say how quickly or how. We have a rule or a policy that we operate by, which in case of company bankruptcy, we compensate 50% of structural damages and then 100% of the interior, the apartment, the equipment, and so on," concluded Ristani.

Today, the municipal council decided to subsidize the residents of the building with financial assistance, supporting them with a monetary amount of 40,000 lek per month.

According to the draft decision, the financial assistance will be monitored every month and will be discontinued once the families are permanently settled in the reconstructed apartments.
