The head of the Socialist Party's Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, criticized the Democrats in Parliament for honoring academician Rexhep Qosja, who passed away today. According to Balla, the Democrats were outraged over the observance of a minute of silence in Parliament for the academician, as he addressed them with the words, "Don't bring this shame upon the PD."

"I have a question: will you vote for this law or not? Because I heard you when I presented a summary of the first six months of Parliament and told you that you haven't voted for any of the laws that are Albania's homework for aligning legislation. Mr. Këlliçi came out and said, 'Forgive us, but we didn't know the list; if we had known the list, we would have voted for these laws.'

Albania has fulfilled the homework assigned by the European Commission. I heard someone here say, 'I won't vote for the law because I know what this law does to me.' Fine, he won't vote because he has a personal issue with this law, but you, Tritan, why don't you vote for the law? And the rest of you? What problem do you have with this law? For nothing?! Or maybe just say, 'Come on.' Let's be correct. You've said that when it comes to it, at least say it there in Brussels, because here you waver. When it comes to integration laws, we are ready to vote for them—so far, two people have said no.

To conclude, I think that until the moment we vote—because I heard there was also a revolt about not participating in the minute of silence for academician Rexhep Qosja—it would be best not to bring this shame upon the Democratic Party. The PD does not deserve this shame, from anyone who says not to perform this moral act of the Parliament of Albania," Balla said.
