Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, held a meeting with the Serbian diplomat, Marko ฤuriฤ‡. Through a social media post, Hoxha wrote that Albania and Serbia have fundamentally different positions on Kosovo, while adding that an Albanian consulate will open in Bujanovac. "Today, I had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko ฤuriฤ‡, within the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum 2026. Our discussion focused on advancing bilateral relations through constructive dialogue and concrete cooperation, aiming to further strengthen economic and trade ties, appreciating their role in promoting sustainable development and regional stability. In this context, I welcomed Serbia's readiness to respond positively to our request for the opening of a General Consulate in Bujanovac. I emphasized the necessity to maintain, deepen, and strengthen regional cooperation as the most reliable path toward a common future, setting aside unnecessary and unproductive rhetoric. Albania remains committed to investing in the clarity of its positions, the coherence of its foreign policy, as well as strengthening people-to-people contacts, cultivating a new generation with a clear European vision. Additionally, we acknowledged that we have fundamentally different positions regarding the Republic of Kosovo. I reaffirmed Albania's clear and unwavering stance on the decisive importance of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, as the only sustainable path toward full normalization of relations and mutual recognition, as a fundamental contribution to lasting peace and long-term stability in the region," writes Hoxha.
