Former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has revealed his romantic relationship with former Macron government minister Stéphane Séjourné in a television program. As Attal said on the show Sept à Huit, his love for Séjourné, who is currently the Executive Vice President of the European Commission for Industry, was very swift.

They first met in 2014, when the former was an advisor to Social Affairs Minister Marisol Touraine and the latter was an advisor to Emmanuel Macron when he was Minister of Finance. "It was love at first sight. It was a relationship that began when we were both young and lasted for several years. We evolved. Each on their own path, but in a similar world," said the former French Prime Minister.

"I am sure he is the love of my life. We went through difficult times and some separations," added Attal, who was the first resident of the Élysée Palace to openly admit he was homosexual, explaining that their careers as frontline politicians took up a lot of time in their lives, especially when he took office as Prime Minister. A key point for their reunion was the dissolution of the Attal government on June 9, 2024, with both men seizing the opportunity to be together again.

"We never lost contact. We always spoke to each other as if we didn't want to believe that our separation was final. I feel very lucky," said Attal, who also confessed his desire to have a child.

"It is difficult for male couples to become parents. Adoption is legally possible, but it is a long process with an uncertain outcome," said the 37-year-old. The former French Prime Minister's confession was part of the promotion of his book "En homme libre" with an eye on the French presidential elections in 2027.
