The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has found the former mayor of Finiq Municipality, Leonidha Hristo, guilty, sentencing him to 4 years in prison for the criminal offense of "abuse of office." Due to benefiting from a shortened trial procedure, the final sentence for Hristo was reduced to 2 years of imprisonment. According to the Special Prosecutor's Office, investigations revealed that during the period 2017–2019, irregular procurement procedures, worth approximately 77 million lekë, were carried out in Finiq Municipality. The prosecution claims that the tenders were manipulated through falsified documentation, with winners being predetermined. To support the charges, the prosecution presented multiple pieces of evidence, including testimonies, summaries, and official documents. Hristo was also a candidate for mayor in the 2023 local elections, under the banner of the "Bashkë Fitojmë" coalition. Meanwhile, for several other former municipal officials, such as Florian Perin, Stavri Çavo, Lefter Karjanin, and Lefteria Mekshin, the case is being reviewed in Sarandë, as GJKKO has declared itself incompetent to try them.
