The Constitutional Court reviews today at 11:00 the appeal of former Albanian President Ilir Meta, who seeks the annulment of the security measure 'arrest with imprisonment'. Meta requests the Constitutional Court to overturn the decisions of the First Instance of GJKKO, the Special Appeal, and that of the High Court, thereby seeking release from pre-trial detention. Ilir Meta has been isolated since October 2024, following charges of corruption, abuse of office, and concealment of wealth brought against him by SPAK. Meanwhile, on April 27 at 11:00, the first substantive session will be held at GJKKO for Meta and the other 4 defendants. Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi have requested a regular trial, while Fatime Kryemadhi, Pirro Xhixho, and Ema Ccoku have opted for the abbreviated procedure. The judicial panel will rule on this request substantively, determining whether Kryemadhi and Meta will be separated from the other three defendants or if they will be tried as a group.
