A shocking case has been uncovered in Rome, where a 15-day-old infant was found in severe hygienic-sanitary conditions inside a degraded apartment. According to authorities, the minor was discovered naked, sleeping on a mattress placed on a dirty floor, surrounded by debris, mold, and various hazardous materials.

The police intervention followed an investigation launched by the prosecutor's office, after the mother had removed the baby from the hospital, avoiding post-birth treatments and check-ups. During the home inspection, authorities also discovered a significant quantity of drugs, including marijuana and hashish, with a high market value.

The woman's partner, a 49-year-old of Romanian origin, was arrested on charges of possessing narcotics with intent to distribute, while the 31-year-old mother faces criminal proceedings. The infant has been transferred to a hospital facility for treatment and is under medical care, pending decisions by authorities regarding his protection. Investigations have also revealed that the couple had previously been involved in another tragic case, following the death of one of their children just days after birth.
