The administration of Donald Trump has unveiled plans for the construction of a monumental arch called the "Trump Arch" in Washington DC, an ambitious and simultaneously controversial project aimed at transforming the landscape of the American capital.
The proposed monument is expected to reach approximately 76 meters in height, making it taller than the U.S. Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. The design includes gold elements, a torch, and a crown similar to the Statue of Liberty.
According to the White House, the plans have been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts for review. The project is anticipated to be partially funded by public funds through the National Endowment for the Humanities, with about 15 million dollars initially dedicated.
Published renderings show a structure inscribed with "One Nation Under God," adorned with eagles and golden lion statues. According to the administration, the arch will symbolize the historical sacrifices of Americans and serve as a monumental entry point to the city.
Trump has expressed that the project is inspired by the Arc de Triomphe.
