The Special Court releases former Deputy Minister Klodjan Rrjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj from prison. The decision was made with a commutation of the sentence, reports journalist Anila Hoxha, because according to calculations, it turned out that their time served in pre-trial detention had completed the term of their sentence. Klodian Rrjepaj and Ilir Rrapaj were sentenced by GJKKO to 6 years in prison each for the criminal offenses of "theft by abuse of duty" and "document forgery." However, due to a shortened trial, the sentence was reduced to 4 years for each. Rrjepaj and Rrapaj were found guilty of violations in the sterilization concession procedures, a contract worth about 100 million euros in the health sector, but were acquitted of the charge of "structured criminal group."
